Overland journey to the Pacific coast /by John A. Johnson, 1849.

John Johnson's journal describes an 1849 trip to the Pacific coast with the Fort Stephenson Mining Association and an account of the trip home by way of Panama and New Orleans. The company traveled by way of the Oregon trail, Sublette Cutoff, Raft and Humboldt rivers, and the Sink. Johnson notes landmarks, the value of mules, and the break up of the company. Laid in the journal is a printed copy of the constitution of the Association.
